Nikeisha's Class

June 2021

Where has the time gone? This school year just flew by. We are so pleased to welcome our newest student, Piper, to our classroom. She is a great new addition to our group. During the last two months, our class has been learning about the life-cycle of different animals. We have participated in different science experiments, and we are so excited about our chicken hatching class project!  We have taken care of our eggs and they have now hatched. We welcomed three cute chicks in our classroom – Dottie, Elsa & Goldie.

All the students have worked hard on their goals and have grown and made great strides this year. I am very grateful for the support we received from parents who collaborated with us and participated in the learning process through sending information or pictures as requested. Your support and open communication are greatly appreciated! Thanks to our principal, assistant principal and Jill, our school’s office administrator, who kept us, and our parents informed and continue to offer great resources and direction to us all. We wish everyone a great summer break!

May 2021

Spring is finally here!! We have been enjoying the warm weather outside. Our class finished up our unit on the Inuit community and have started learning about spring. We went on a community walk to look for signs of spring and did science experiments making clouds from Ivory soap and rain from food coloring and shaving cream. We will continue to learn about spring and life cycles throughout the month of May.

March 2021

Wow! February flew by! Our students have been working hard on their individual goals and daily gross motor activities. We have continued to focus on our community theme as we explored the Inuit community, their culture, and people. The students enjoyed participating in the lessons through switch work, art, and iPad activities. We also had fun making cards and listening to stories for Valentine’s Day. For the month of March, we will be doing a book study and continue learning about a different indigenous community. We look forward to another fun month of learning and exploring.

January 2021

Welcome back to school everyone! 2020 flew by so fast. Welcome 2021. December was a very festive month in our room. We enjoyed making crafts and decorating our classroom doors. The students had fun listening to and singing well known carols and were happy to receive gifts from the CP Association. We had fun participating in our outdoor winter festival. This month we will be focusing on the themes winter and my home/my community. We look forward to this new year as we continue to explore and learn.
