Online Remote Learning Program

June 2021

RLP students have worked very hard this year during synchronous and non-synchronous learning time! We have seen the students grow and progress in their communication and are thrilled that they all have found ways to adapt to online learning! My team is incredibly thankful to all the parents who have been so active in their support during live sessions and implementation of our written lessons and activities. The students are wrapping up their novel study this month as well as working on fun non-standard measurements with...WORMS!!! Not real ones - don't worry! Although we all miss Wendy, Tina has been a great addition and we can't wait to have fun and finish the year with all the great activities and new idea's she is bringing to our teaching team. June is a month filled with as many fun outdoor activities as possible. We encourage all families to take their learning outside when the weather is nice. Hands on learning has always been integral to our students learning. We wish everyone a healthy, happy summer and can't wait to see some of you back in person and some of you online again in August!

April 2021

Spring is here! We hope that everyone had a restful spring break and is ready to learn! We have now wrapped up our weather unit and are excited to start working on a novel study this month. This last month has really flown by for all of us and we are thrilled to see how the students are excelling at online learning and finding ways to communicate over a screen. The students will be continuing to work on their conversation skills, questioning and sharing opinions and knowledge. Come May we will move into learning about plant growth, signs of spring, bugs and insects and much more. We hope to incorporate some outdoor learning as the weather gets nicer and we will continue to read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory until the end of the year.

February 2021

February marks the beginning of the second semester of the remote learning for our students. We have had a few students return to in person learning and are excited that the staff will be working with these amazing children in person! We also have to say a huge thank you and goodbye to Rachel who will also return to in-person learning to support EFS students.

During the month of February we will focus our learning around an amazing author Jan Brett as we wrap up our weather unit. We will also look ahead to March when we will be doing a novel study during our live sessions. Students have been doing some amazing and creative writing about what pet they would like to have. I think the most creative one so far is a red bird that eats bubble gum. The children have also been exploring process art and teaching their parents how amazing they are at creating their own works of art!

January 2021

A new year has started and we are excited to be back! This month we will begin to look at how to restructure the schedule for RLP as we plan for the possibility of students moving back to in person learning. Just a reminder to parents, that if want your child to return to in-person/school learning, you will need to contact the school by January 8.

We will start this year off with some fun activities around our pets, journal writing and being thankful. We will also continue to talk about the weather and seasons during our shared/guided reading and activities during Google meets. I hope that everyone returns healthy and rested, ready to learn!

December 2020

Learning online! During remote learning, students have shown us that they can be engaged and learn just like at school! I want to thank all our parents who spend their time learning what it takes to support their child at home. We have had so many smiles and laughs over the past few months. Students are sharing their thoughts and feelings, they are writing and working on reading skills, they are playing games and, above all, learning how to communicate! Allie, Wendy, Rachel and I want to wish everyone a restful winter break.

Welcome to our Remote Learning Program

Welcome! I know that learning looks alot different this year for our students who are learning online in our Remote Learning Program (RLP). We are looking forward to seeing everyone log into their computer for all sorts of learning adventures and fun!
