Since 2016, Ernest Manning High School has offered a Broadcast Journalism program that is centred on story telling and learning live broadcast production. This course is focused on creating a student run broadcast with the goal in presenting relevant news and information to the Ernest Manning community. Broadcast Journalism students are instrumental in creating content for EMTV. EM Daily, our flagship show produces relevant news and information that increases students voice in order to promote school spirit and community.

The emphasis on Broadcast Journalism is centred on student-selected stories and segments that are engaging, and relevant to the school community. Students produce, write, present, and create a daily 3 minute broadcast utilizing industry standard equipment that would be seen in a small market television station.

Students earn credits in Journalism 15, 25, and 35. The journalism courses provide students with the opportunity to explore and create original texts and content for a public audience in a variety of journalistic mediums.

EMTV students are problem-solvers, creative, self-motivated and leaders. Students rotate through a variety of television broadcast roles including: producing, writing, on-air talent, reporting, camera, multi-camera directing, camera, graphics, audio, and video operations.
