Science


Students focus on interconnected ideas and principles, such as change, diversity and energy. They will develop scientific knowledge through collecting, analyzing and interpreting experimental evidence. In science courses, students make connections among science, technology and society. They will continue to develop a sense of wonder about the natural world.

The aim of the EM High Science program is to facilitate the scientific awareness and literacy needed for students to be effective members of society.  Inquiry components include:

  • Using the scientific method,
  • Scientific knowledge,
  • Mathematical, laboratory and critical thinking skills,
  • Connections to science, technology and society.

Meaningful learning opportunities relate curricular concepts to real-world applications both inside and out- side the school environment. Additionally, our teachers encourage students to be lifelong learners of science. Together with their parents or guardians, students are encouraged to evaluate their personal goals as well as the various science programs offered prior to making decisions regarding course sequencing.

Advanced Placement®

Laboratory experiences for all AP science classes will be supported by the use of the most up to date technology available at the High School Level. The use of technology to support the gathering, analysis and interpretation of experimental data will give our students a true taste of the technological advancements awaiting them at post-secondary institutions.
