Fine Arts

Through direct teacher instruction, students will develop an extensive body of work that expresses their creative mark and voice.

Art 10 (5 credits)

No Prerequisite Required

This is an introductory course to the fundamentals of art, particularly stressing drawing, painting and composition. This course begins with simple exercises and leads to more involved projects with a wide range of different mediums. Students will develop the technical skills required to create proficient pieces of art with confidence.

Art 20 (5 credits)

Prerequisite Recommendation: Art 10

This course builds upon the technical skills obtained from Art 10 and focuses on the deeper commitment and involvement of refining the individuals techniques. This allows students to experience more flexibility and independence when approaching final projects.

Art 30 (5 credits)

Prerequisite Recommendation: Art 20

This course is a culmination course at the high school level with expectations for more intense, personal involvement and commitment, focused on achieving high quality results. The goal of this course is to prepare students for post-secondary endeavours, while instilling an appreciation of the world of the visual arts. Students will become self-sufficient artists and through teacher consultations, personal style will be achieved.
