Parents picking students up will need to please call the school and request their child to come to the office. When you arrive, please call the office again and we will accompany your child(ren) to the front doors to meet you.

When dropping your child off after 9:07am, please bring your child to the front doors and they will be buzzed in. We ask parents to please remain outside and staff will accompany students to their classrooms.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, parents are not to enter the building without a prior appointment.

Visitors & Volunteers Sign-In - ON HOLD

All parents, visitors and volunteers must report directly to the office and wear a Visitor name tag. This is done for the safety and security of all students. Former students are also asked to check in with the office upon arrival and will only be allowed on site at the discretion of the administration.

Midday Drop-Off / Pick-Up - ON HOLD

Parents need to come into the building (via the front doors) when you are picking your child up in the middle of the day for an appointment or because they are not feeling well and we have called you. In this case, come to the main office and sign out your child in a binder located at the front reception. Our administrative assistant, Sylvia Toy, will call your child’s teacher and have your child come down to meet you. Please do not go down to the classroom to get your child as this is highly disruptive to the learning environment. The same applies for picking your child up early for an appointment or early vacation. Come in via the main doors, sign them out and then we will ensure that they come to the office with all their needed items (coat, backpack, lunch-kit) so that they can leave directly with you.

End-of-Day Pick-Up - ON HOLD

If your child does not take the bus, please be aware that they will be dismissed from their grade specific door (map of the school is included in this newsletter) when the bell rings. Morning kindergarten is dismissed at 11:57 am and all students (Afternoon Kindergarten and Grades 1-3) are dismissed at 3:40 pm. Parents are not required to come into the building to pick up their children. There is simply not enough room. Please wait outside your child’s door until a teacher from that grade recognizes you (or your child sees you) and then we will let them out of the building.

All CBE schools are required to practice lockdowns in the same way that we practice fire drills. The procedures for lockdowns are developed with the Calgary Police Service and are part of each school’s Emergency Response Plan. If you have questions about lockdown drills or lockdown procedures, please contact your principal.

Evacuation Procedures

In the event that the school needs to be evacuated for any reason, all staff have been trained according to CBE standards. All schools have a primary and a secondary evacuation site. In the event of an evacuation, you will receive an email, phone or SMS notification from the school.

There’s still time to donate to the Loonies for Literacy campaign. For every dollar a school raises, a dollar will go to a school in need through the generosity of community sponsors & contributions. #WeAreCBE
