Days with severely inclement weather (temperature including wind chill at or below -20°C, heavy wind or rain conditions) are referred to as "Blue Days". On these days, children may proceed to their designated door at any time after 8:40 AM and enter the school as long as the Blue Day sign is displayed. A teacher will be available to supervise them in the hallways or classroom until normal entry times. Administration will decide if conditions are considered to be inclement.
We request all children wear warm boots, hats, mitts or gloves when going outside. This is especially important for students who may receive rides to and from school. Students are encouraged to go out at recess, except when inclement conditions exist. If regular outside recess is held when it is cold outside, the student entry doors are unlocked so students can warm themselves if needed.
School Safety Patrols will not be on duty when it is below -20° C and / or other inclement weather conditions exist (heavy rain, extremely icy roads etc.). Students are urged to exercise caution when crossing the street on their own.
