The Horticulture & Landscape Construction courses may be applied towards a Green Certificate in Agriculture.

Horticulture & Landscape Construction 10 - 5-10 credits

In the Horticulture & Landscape Construction 10 program offered at both CTS and K&E level, students learn about botany the parts and functions of plants, plant care from seeds or propagated cuttings to harvest, managing plant growth, greenhouse operation, gardening, landscaping, teamwork, careers, as well as other agriculture related concepts. Students learn some basic flower arranging skills creating new seasonal arrangements, as well as designing and building planter boxes.
This course is offered at the Jack James Campus.

Horticulture & Landscape Construction 20 - 10 credits

In the Horticulture & Landscape Construction 20 program offered at both CTS and K&E level, students will apply knowledge learned in previous modules to the growing and maintenance of a greenhouse crop. Students will identify and describe plants that are grown in Alberta climates, growth requirements, managing pests and identifying common problems that arise in greenhouse crops. Advanced floral and landscape design install and maintenance, specialty greenhouse crops, agriculture field crops and the careers available to those interested in this area will also be covered.
This course is offered at the Jack James Campus.
Prerequisite: Horticulture & Landscape Construction 10

Horticulture & Landscape Construction 30 - 10 credits

In the Horticulture & Landscape Construction 30 program offered at both CTS and K&E level, students will continue to apply the knowledge learned in previous modules. They will extend their techniques in developing field crops by looking deeper at biogenetics and technology available. Plant identification, maintenance, floral design for specific occasions and marketing techniques will also be covered. Throughout the course, students will be also exposed to careers that encompass the Horticulture field. This course is offered at the Jack James Campus.
