The latest update from Alberta Education is ordering grade 7-12 students to revert to online learning from April 19 – 30:
The government announced today that it had approved requests from the Calgary Board of Education and the Calgary Catholic School District to temporarily move all Grade 7-12 students to at-home learning. Starting Monday, April 19, Grade 7-12 students will be moved online for a period of two weeks, with a possibility of extension.
We made this request as the vast majority of COVID-19 cases have occurred in Grades 7-12. Moving these students online will help to ensure learning continuity and addresses the operational concerns we have been facing.
Starting Monday, April 19:
Grade 7 - 12 students will learn at home
Kindergarten – Grade 6 students will continue to learn in-person in our schools
Students in the L&L program will learn from home If you have questions or concerns, please visit the CBE's main web page or call our school office. WE are working to provide loaner Chromebook Laptops for students in need and will send details in a subsequent message. Paper copies of student work are available on request and will be available in the front foyer of the school by the parking lot entrance. When we return to in-class learning, and for our grade 6's still learning in class, please consider the following:
With increasing transmission of Covid-19 and variants it is critically important that students who may have been in close contact with positive cases must stay at home and be tested. We do our best to keep students as safe as possible at school; our Covid safety plan relies heavily on students not coming to school if they have any symptoms, or have potentially come in contact with a positive case. If you have any concerns please refer to the CBE's
School Council for April has had a change of date; the next meeting will be on Monday April 25th at 6pm via Zoom. The link will be sent out closer to the meeting. All parents are welcome to participate.
The focus of the school report at School Council will be around fees and budget. A survey has been created and will be open from April 16th – 30th for you to give feedback regarding the school's budget planning and fees. Details are on our web page, and the survey can be accessed at: https://gpvanier.cbedialogue.com/en/projects/2021-engagement/engagements/2021-22-school-budget-and-school-fees when open. We know we make better decisions to support student learning when we build understanding and work together. That's why we are sharing our school budget and fees information with you and asking you to share your perspectives with us by completing a short online survey. Your input is important to us, and we appreciate your participation in completing this survey. School staff are currently planning budget, staffing and planning for next year; we will do our best to incorporate input from all stakeholders.
We'd like to remind you that our spring plant fundraiser page will be taking orders up to May 7th. Please visit https://gpvanier.growingsmilesfundraising.com/home to see the selection of items and place an order. Funds raised will support school projects and supplies, and future off campus opportunities.
Please stay tuned for more updates related to the new Covid restrictions; as always, thank you for your partnership.
