Dress for Success
Students should come dressed appropriately for engaging in an active and respectful learning environment (eg. shirts should not display improper words). Students are reminded to dress appropriately for the weather, as they will be expected to go outside for play. Clothing is to be free of inappropriate comments or drawings. Belly shirts, spaghetti straps and backless tops are weekend wear and should not considered suitable for school. Skirts and shorts should be no shorter than mid-thigh.
Shoe Policy
Students must have appropriate shoes for daily gym classes. Students are expected to remove their outdoor footwear as they enter the building. For safety reasons, children are required to have alternative footwear to wear inside the school. It is recommended that each child have a proper pair of running shoes in the gym and to use as “indoor” shoes throughout the rest of the school. Heelies are not allowed as footwear as they mark our floors and present a safety hazard.
Warm Weather Expectations
It is expected that parents ensure that their child adheres to a responsible and appropriate standard of dress. The following clothing items are not to be worn: bandannas, tank top shirts, spaghetti straps on shirts and dresses, muscle shirts, sleeveless attire, cut off t-shirts, midriff shirts, bare shoulders or backs, shorts and skirts that are not neat or tidy, t-shirts that depict drugs, sex, violence or inappropriate language, and extreme low rise pants that reveal underwear. Students are reminded that appropriate indoor shoes are a must. Students who are not attired appropriately will be asked to change into alternate clothing.
