June Message

Hard to believe that we are approaching the end of the school year. Students are busy engaged in many land-based activities including environmental observations, butterfly life cycle and other culminating learning events as we approach the end of the school year.

Rotary Pancake Breakfast

Students and staff enjoyed our pancake breakfast and line dancing on May 26. Thanks to the Rotary Club of Calgary and all the volunteers for feeding over 650 staff and students on that morning!!

Open House Community Night

Our open house in May was a huge success. There was lots of food and treats provided by local food trucks, games and activities and performances that were enjoyed by all who attended. It was really nice to see so many families enjoying time with each other on such a great night.

STEM Education

As part of our Grade 4 Simple Machines unit we had 3 engineering consultant guest presenters from Wood PLC that encouraged and inspired our grade 4 students to consider pursuing a career in science, technology, engineering, and math. Students asked questions and showed off their simple machine projects to our guest speakers. Wood PLC was so impressed with our students that they have donated $1000 to our school to invest in further STEM education opportunities for our students. Thank-you Wood PLC!!! And special thanks to our guest presenters Nathan, Sophia and Sajid!!!

School Patrol Celebration

I wanted to thank of our families who supported their children to be School Patrol volunteers all year. All of our patrols had a great day at Heritage Park on June 7 to acknowledge their effort, leadership and commitment to keeping our community safe during arrival and dismissal time. Way to go Patrollers!! Thanks to Ms. Gale and Ms. Shergill for organizing and supervising  this celebration event for our Patrols.

Grade 6 Diversity Cup Soccer Tournament June 10-11

We had a girls team and a boys team participate in the Kiwanis Diversity Cup Soccer Tournament over the weekend. We had a great day of soccer for both teams. Thanks to Ms. Wlasuk, Ms. Hill, Ms. Kreze for coaching and organizing this event.

School Council and Parent Association

Wanted also to express my gratitude to all the volunteers and School Council that provided their time to support our school in our Casino fundraiser in April. When we find out how much was raised we will let everyone know.

Next School Council meeting will be June 22 at 6:30

Sports Day

Sports Day is this Friday June 16. Please dress your children for activities outside for that day. Remember to wear hats and sunscreen and have a full water bottle for the day. We will move activities indoors if air quality or weather is not cooperating. Looking forward to an active great day.
