Our School

Vision Statement

Our students are well-educated and successful learners who possess a positive attitude, a sense of responsibility, a love of learning, respect for others, a broad base of applicable knowledge, and a wide range of skills and strategies with which to meet the challenges of their futures. Our students and staff enjoy learning in a supportive, safe, and caring atmosphere that enables them to strive continually to be the best that they can be. Our staff, parents, community, and school system work cooperatively for the benefit of all students and for our collective society.

Purpose Statement

The purpose of the school is to facilitate quality learning for students in all curricular areas. The school assists the home and the community to foster the intellectual, physical, moral, social, and emotional growth of our students so that they become competent, responsible, and contributing citizens. The learning experiences enable students to be self-directed learners, effective communicators, collaborative team players, and critical/creative thinkers.

Mission Statement

The Hamptons School community provides an optimum learning environment to educate students of today for the world of tomorrow.

Motto

Our motto is A Child's Second Home of Learning where children feel comfortable, are excited about learning, and are challenged to be the very best that they can be academically and personally.

Our History & School Design

The Hamptons School opened in September 1999. It is the first school in Alberta to be built by a community developer. The project is a unique partnership involving Alberta Education, the Calgary Board of Education (CBE), and Tirion Properties. The parents and the community at large have actively participated in the creation of the school from its beginning.

The school has 9 classrooms including 2 kindergarten rooms (2-morning classes), 7 classrooms for Grades 1-4, a gymnasium, learning commons, and a music room. Each class has Laptops, iPads, and a SMARTboard. All classrooms have connections to the internet and the school's networked server.

Our School's Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation

We are committed to acknowledging and supporting the implementation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission 94 Calls to Action specific to education. In 2021, our school, along with all CBE schools made a TRC Commitment to Action. On June 21, 2022, we renewed our commitment, which can be found under Resources.

School Development Plan

Each year, our school prepares a development plan with input from teachers, school staff, students and parents. We review many sources of data, including report cards, provincial achievement test results and school surveys. Based on this information, we create our plan identifying targeted areas for growth. Our school development plan is not meant to represent all of the work that takes place in our school, but rather it focuses on specific areas for improvement.

School Improvement Results Report

Our school also prepares a results plan, which looks at our previous school year. It shows our students’ achievement and progress in meeting the goals and outcomes as set out by the CBE and Alberta Education, outlines some of the highlights of our school development plan and gives an overview of our school. You can look on the CBE website for system-wide results.
