December/January

December is here and it is a busy month for The Hamptons School! We have report cards going home December 9 and interviews on December 12 and 13. These interviews are very important as it provides time for parents, teachers and students to discuss the learning experiences that have happened over the past 3 months. We also have the Book Fair during interview time. Parents and children alike enjoy buying the latest books.

We had our second School Council meeting on November 27. We discussed the School Results Report, the School Development Plan and the CBE budget. These documents can be found on our school website. At each meeting, a grade group of teachers presents on what is happening in their classrooms. The grade 1 teachers presented this time. The next meeting is January 29. Please come out and learn more about your school.

December always has many activities. We have netball for everyone the first week of December. We will have carolling sessions the last week of school where we all enjoy singing our favorite carols. We will also have Dan the One Man Band perform for the students on the last day before Christmas break. We will have pizza on that day too. We will support The Mustard Seed as our Christmas charity. This helps our students become caring and contributing members of our society. Thank you parents for working alongside of us to instill these qualities in your children. By showing children how they can be of service to others, we are supporting children who care and contribute to society.

I would like to thank the parents who are following the traffic rules in the parking lot and on the street at the front of the school. We all worry about keeping children safe so it is up to all of us to obey the rules.

In January, we will have volleyball instructors here to work with all of the students. These specialists offer such great instruction to the students. We do bring in many specialists throughout the year so that the students can participate in many different sports.

We will have our student teachers in the school from February to April. This is a continuation of the fall placements. These teachers learn so much from us and we appreciate the energy and ideas they bring to their practicum.

Registration for next year begins in January. Please let friends and neighbours know about our wonderful school. We are happy to have them join our Hamptons school family.

During the winter break, enjoy your family time and we look forward to new learning and experiences after the winter break.
