February/March

The Hamptons school has had a very busy January. We had our week of volleyball, with an excellent instructor, which was very energizing and fun. The Kindergarten students had a visit from Ophelia, the owl, and then completed owl drawings. In February, we will have a group called Courage Dance Unit. We are excited to see what kind of experience this will be. We, also, have a week of Yoga that teaches students stretching moves and calming strategies. Pink shirt day is February 26 and we will discuss bullying and how we can help each other to stop bullying.

Four clubs are providing extra activities for students. Grade 4 Chess club had many members. Grade 3 has Scratch club, Grade 2 has Mad Science club and Grade 1 students are participating in Maker club.

We will have student teachers in the school from February to April. We are welcoming back student teachers in Kindergarten, Grade 2 and Grade 3, as well as, welcoming a new student teacher in Grade 1.

We are also super excited about our Concert to be held on May 1 at 7:00 p.m. at Foothills Alliance Church. The play is called “The Emperor’s New Clothes”. The Grade 4 students are the actors and the rest of the school joins in the songs. There are many practices to make this such a wonderful experience.

We had a School Council meeting on January 29. We would love to see more parents at our meetings. Each meeting, a grade group of teachers presents on what is happening in their classrooms. Please come out and learn more about your school. Our next meeting will be April 8.

I would like to thank the parents who are following the traffic rules in the parking lot and on the street at the front of the school. There has been an increase in bad driving behaviors and we all worry about the safety of the children. Please obey the rules and keep our children safe.

Registration for next year continues. Please let friends and neighbours know about our wonderful school. We are happy to have them join our Hamptons school family.

Enjoy the February break and we look forward to seeing everyone at Parent-Teacher interviews in March.
