Our CBE Student Code of Conduct and CBE Progressive Student Discipline regulation apply to all of our students. They outline the roles and expectations for our students to promote positive and inclusive learning environments, help students to develop empathy and become good citizens both within and outside of the school community, and explain the consequences when a student’s disruptive behaviour negatively affects the learning environment.

Our CBE Employee Code of Conduct applies to all of our employees. The CBE maintains high standards for the conduct of its employees, and expects them to conduct themselves honestly and with integrity and exercise common sense, good judgement and discretion.

Code of Conduct

Respect & Responsibility

In keeping with our school philosophy – we believe that students will take responsibility for their own actions as individuals, and as members of a group, to ensure safe and courteous behaviour at all times. In order to achieve these objectives our focus is a child-centered approach which includes:

  • Fostering feelings of mutual trust and respect in a warm, supportive climate
  • Enhancing feelings of self-worth
  • Encouraging students to take ownership and accept responsibility for their behaviour
  • Using positive reinforcement and logical consequences
  • Providing opportunities for student involvement in decision making and development of strategies to mediate conflict

The school discipline policy is designed to help students accept responsibility for their own actions and behaviour. Accepting responsibility promotes character development and good citizenship.

Resolving Problems

The first thing a student must remember when in difficulty is that there are people who can and want to help. First on the list is the classroom teacher or supervisor whom the student should contact immediately if in trouble. Depending on the nature of the problem, others who are ready to help include the principal, the assistant principal, the office staff, or other staff members.
