One of the most important ways parents/guardians and community members can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on the school council. Under the Education Act, a school council is a collective association designed to advise the principal and the CBE Board of Trustees on matters related to the school. School councils have legislated advisory. They are different from Parent Societies & Associations, whose main function is to raise funds for the school. You can find more details in the CBE School Council Handbook.

School Council

Our active School Council is well established at Hawkwood School. This group operates to support school programs and special events. The Council provides for parent input and assists in providing information relating to current educational interests.

Meeting Dates/Schedule

At Hawkwood School, the Council meets on a Wednesday night during most of the ten school months. The majority of the meetings are Regular General Meetings that parents/guardians are encouraged to attend. All meetings are hosted in person in the school Learning Commons, as well as virtually on Microsoft Teams starting at 6:30 PM
