Metis Week

Dear HWW Students, Families, and Community Members,

As the season turns, we are so grateful to have enjoyed a lovely extended Fall. Our thoughts now turn to the Winter season ahead and all the fun to be had on the land in the snow!

For any families with incoming Grade 9s, our virtual Open House evenings are coming up soon. These will be held virtually on December 1 (complementary subjects) and December 2 (core subjects) evenings from 4-6:00pm. They will be followed by a Student Services drop in session from 6-6:30 for more detailed/student specific questions. More information and TEAMS links to come. You can select what sessions best fit your inquiry and your child's interests. We look forward to welcoming our new Warriors!

This week we have been acknowledging Metis Week Nov. 15-19 and Louis Riel Day Nov. 16.  We thank each of our students for their respectful learning.

“Life, without the dignity of an intelligent being, is not worth having." (Louis Riel)

In other news, our Fall sports have wrapped up and our basketball season has begun, tryouts information has been posted to Instagram. Congrats to our Athletes and Coaches for a great season!

Christmas Support for Warrior Families in Need:

Due to Covid19 concerns/restrictions, our HWW Christmas drive is going to look similar to last year where we will not be collecting physical items.  We ask that if you would like to be a part of supporting some of our families this holiday that staff, students and families consider donating cash or gift cards for the following businesses:

  • Walmart
  • Superstore
  • Shoppers Drug Mart
  • Canadian Tire
  • Chinook Centre
  • Southcentre Mall
  • Tim Hortons

Any cash donations will be used to purchase gift cards for the locations listed above and will be presented to Wise Wood families with identified need this holiday season.

Here is how you can help: Drop off a cash donation OR gift card donation in person to the main office in a labelled envelope by December 3, 2021.

Last but not least, this December the Henry Wise Wood Theatre Program is presenting an original presentation on December 7 – 10 at 7:00 pm. In person seating will be limited, and ticket information will be coming out shortly. Please contact Mr. McDonald at mamcdonald@cbe.ab.ca if you have any questions.
