Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Dear Henry Wise Wood Students, Parent/Guardians, and Community,
It's been another glorious week of Athletics success, a wonderful school Musical, and incredibly hard- working students and staff. Please come out and support our teams as many move into the playoff round from regular season. Go, Warriors!
Our classes have been taking advantage of the lovely weather to get out on field trips locally, included a trip to the Calgary Public Library for our LEAD students, and to admire the downtown architecture through a camera lens for Graphic Design and Photography, as well as going farther afield to Banff and Kananaskis for PE hiking and Science adventuring. We are beginning to look ahead to possible international opportunities in the upcoming school years.
This Friday's Professional Learning Day, we will be travelling as a staff through an ATA special initiatives grant to Blackfoot Crossing. We will spend time learning on the land and renewing our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation and the Holistic Lifelong Learning Framework as a staff.
Top of mind for us this week is the upcoming Graduation Ceremony and Banquet on May 27. All information has been shared through the Grad Newsletter and in today's Grad rehearsal. Please remind your student to check the Grad D2L shell for details and review the posted Graduation list.
A reminder of the upcoming full school virtual Assembly on May 19 and follow up lunch and learn sessions on May 30 & June 6 with guest speaker Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse. These sessions will be focussed on the topic of Consent, as part of our work to continue to develop our welcome, safe, caring and respectful school learning environment. Please see last week's school messenger for details for parents/guardians or contact Ms Smyth or Ms Delion in the office to speak further about this. Students are asked to sign up on their homeroom D2L shell.
As students prepare for the final push, we are looking forward to Fuel Your Brain as provided by our School Council, providing healthy snacks to support students being at their best for exams!
- Parent Volunteers Needed: HELP FUEL YOUR BRAIN!
- Want to help Henry Wise Wood students reach their full potential during exam break? We know having a good breakfast decreases stress, helps to think more clearly, and improves test scores.
- Volunteers are needed to hand out healthy breakfast snacks for an hour each morning (8-9 AM) before exams from Monday, June 13 to Tuesday, June 28.
- Sign up is available online at volunteersignup.org/9JWPE
For more information, please contact Aly Lefebvre, Guidance Counsellor at firstname.lastname@example.org
And finally, let's take action together as Artists, Scholars, Champions to help those in need. We are taking part in the “Do What You Can" Warrior Food Drive in support of the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank until May 26. Donation bins are in the foyer. When we all do what we can, change happens!
Enjoy the sunshine and the long weekend,
