Regular Program at the CBE

Even though most of our schools offer a regular program, no two are quite the same. All schools teach according to Alberta Education’s mandated curriculum, however a school’s focus, optional courses and school activities are as unique as every school.

Program, Focus & Approach

Working in Partnership With You

The staff at Hillhurst School is dedicated to building a safe, compassionate community of life-long learners, who are inspired to become respectful, responsible, co-operative, innovative and productive citizens. Our school building, system and province share a common focus for the quality education we provide for every student. We will continue to strengthen our partnerships with parents as we know that helping your child succeed is a responsibility we share with you, the parents. Our home-school partnership is one of the best ways to help your child succeed. We encourage you to get to know your child’s teacher and become involved in your child’s education.

Gifted and Talented Education Program (GATE)

GATE started at Hillhurst in September 1995 when the GATE program transferred over from Queen Elizabeth Elementary. Originally we had three classes of mixed Grade 4,5,6 students. Today, the program consists of five classrooms: three Grade 4&5 and two Grade 6, that serve students from a variety of N.W. and N.E. Calgary communities. Our GATE team consists of five homeroom teachers and a 1.0 GATE strategist/learning support teacher who works with the GATE students in a variety of capacities.
