Home Education Reimbursement Guidelines

Funding is available only for registered Homeschooling students. This funding is primarily for consumable materials: instructional materials and consumables must be clearly connected to the Learning Plan. All equipment purchases will need to be approved by the facilitator and Section 7.6 may apply.

(valid for the 2019-2020 school year)

Reimbursement Claim Form

  1. Download the file(MS.WORD)       or       ADOBE PDF
  2. Complete
  3. Print and submit

While putting together your claim, please adhere to the following:

  • Consult the Standards for Home Education Reimbursement to understand the goods or services that are eligible to be claimed.
  • Reimbursements can be submitted between November 1st – April 5th
  • Claim forms can be dropped off during office hours on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
  • A separate form should be filled out for each child. Please ensure that the form is filled out correctly and completely as it will affect the time of return.
  • Only original receipts can be submitted (can be a photocopy for the second child if the amount is being split between siblings). The exception is a receipt needed for warranty purposes (in which case, enclose a copy).
  • If travelling, or under special circumstances, reimbursement forms and receipts can be scanned and submitted, but must show a penned signature.
  • Receipts submitted must be dated between the date of registration and April 5th of the current school year.
  • All receipts must be for resources that clearly support the Learning Plan.
  • Loose receipts must be taped to letter size paper (8 ½ x 11, single-sided) with all information clearly visible.
  • It is preferable that one or two lump sums are submitted, first and/or second half of the school year.
  • If you have made a credit card purchase outside of Canada, you can either attach a copy of your credit card statement that shows the US exchange rate at the time of purchase, or refer to the exchange rate website to calculate the CAD total. https://www.bankofcanada.ca/rates/exchange/daily-exchange-rates/
  • The following can be claimed up to a maximum of 50% of your allowable funding amount: tangible assets, admissions/field trips, lessons taught by a certified instructor.
  • If the internet is a resource that is used to support your child’s learning plan, you can claim your internet fee by submitting one bill (ie. September’s bill) and multiplying 50% of the bill by 12 months on the claim form (without having to submit all 12 bills).
  • If the item being claimed is not listed in your learning plan as a resource, please add it and send the revised learning plan to your facilitator prior to submitting your claim.

Fees will be charged to your MyCBE / PowerSchool account starting in October.

Annual system fees are set each year when the operating budget is passed by the Board of Trustees. To keep fees as low as possible, the CBE is committed to being as efficient as possible in the provision of services. Costs of providing the services include direct labour and supplies, as well as the cost of fee waivers and uncollectible accounts.

It is important to know that we have a waiver process for families who cannot afford to pay the fees.

School-based and course specific fees may be charged by our school. You can find a complete list of the approved fees for your school on our Find My School Fees page.

Visit the CBE website for more information on fees and waivers.
