Hello to our Jack James community,
I want to send a thank you to our student and family community as we finish our second week of classes. Although some of the changes in our building are new to us all, our students continue to be patient, kind and respectful as we go through the day following safety and social distancing protocols. Sanitization as students enter the building and classrooms has become our routine, and it is rare that we have to remind a student to put their mask on. We are having individual conversations with students and families who may need extra support following the CBE mask guidelines.
A reminder that we have asked students not to come to the building before 8:00am. The front doors will be unlocked and school will be open just before 8:00am Mon-Fri. Thank you for your understanding.
We continue to appreciate your patience as we work through some logistics that we've not dealt with before, most of which are connected to pandemic-related challenges. With this in mind, please be advised that we will be implementing some teacher timetable changes for Monday, September 14. Some of our students will be welcomed into the classroom by a different teacher than who they've started with, as we have had some staff temporarily reassigned for Hub online learning. Our current teachers will communicate any changes with their classes on Friday, September 11 and work with their classes on Monday to ease this transition for our students. While class changes aren't ideal once the semester starts, please understand that we are reacting to an evolving situation, and we are working to support our student community during these changes. If you have questions around this, please don't hesitate to reach out. We will answer as best we can.
Information on our upcoming Learn Plan Day (IPP conversation with parent/guardian/student & homeroom teacher) onThursday, September 24 (Friday bell schedule) and Friday, September 25 (no classes for students) will be shared home with families next week.
We will also be hosting our first School Council Meeting, via Skype, on Thursday September 24 at 5:00pm. If you are interested in joining our Parent Advisory Council, please reply and we will send an video link invitation.
