Jack James Year-End Message for Families

Hello Jack James community,

I hope this communication finds you well as we end June. We did not get the chance to do a proper farewell into summer, however we will work to make up for it when students are back at school!

The staff at Jack James is certainly looking forward to meeting you if you are a new student or welcoming you back home if you are returning. If you are an incoming grade 10 student, don’t be nervous.  We are planning activities to help get you settled in, including connecting you with a Jag Time teacher to help you navigate high school and to build strategies for success.  Our grade 11s and 12s will be there to support you along with the teachers, support staff and administration.

High school is a time of change and transition; you will meet new people and have opportunities for new experiences.  My advice to all of you is to get involved!  Join a team, be involved in community building, and take advantage of the many off-campus opportunities and/or career exploration opportunities you can.  You will get out of high school what you put into it.

If you are a returning student, welcome back!  A new year is a fresh start.  Take what you learned last year and build on it – your strengths, areas of growth and goals.  Take positive risks.  Get more involved in your school.  Push yourself to succeed.  If you are part of the Grad Class of 2021, congratulations!  This will be a year filled with memory making.

Please keep an eye on your email and the CBE/Jack James websites for important return to school information. We continue to work on preparing for the return to classes, and are hopeful to see our students in our building on September 1, however are also preparing for other teaching and learning scenarios as the need arises. I will email parents/guardians and update our Instagram @jackjameshs as information is received.

As of today, a September 1 return to school date is planned so that grade 10 students attend from 8:30-12:00pm and Grade 11/12 students attend 1:00-3:13pm.

Wednesday, September 2 will be a regular school day for all students with an 8:30am start. This is subject to change, please watch for an update from the CBE and Jack James High School in August. New information will also be posted on our website and Instagram.

Please keep us updated if your contact information changes over the summer. The main office will be checking email and phone messages periodically over the break, and will officially reopen on August 17.

Enjoy your summer, stay safe, and I very much look forward to seeing you in the fall!

Sincerely,

Jennifer Gorkoff
Principal, Jack James High School
