Personal Belongings

Care of Personal Property

The school is not responsible for the loss or damage of personal property. Students are advised to leave items of value at home and not share their locker combinations.

Backpacks, Extra Clothing and Bags

Due to limited locker space, students are encouraged to bring to school only what they need for classes. Backpacks/large purses/tote bags are left in lockers to improve safety in halls and classrooms. Locker access is at break times (nutrition break and lunch). Small purses (smaller than pocket books) will be allowed for personal supplies.

Lost & Found

Students are advised to check in the office for any items that may have been turned in. Items not claimed by the end of the school year will be donated.

Personal Electronic Devices

Students are not to use personal listening devices (PLD) or electronic games during class time. We take no responsibility for assisting students should such items be lost, damaged, misplaced, or stolen. Only in classes where it is a learning-related activity will students be permitted to have a PLD in class, otherwise they must be stored in student lockers. Students require special permission from parents, teaching staff, admin, and their IPP coordinator (supported by evidence in a recent educational assessment) to access a PLD while working in class.

Bicycles

Upon arrival at the school and for the safety of all students, cyclists (and skateboarders) are expected to walk on school grounds during school hours. Bicycles must be stored in the bike racks provided and locked with a good quality lock. The school cannot be responsible for bicycles damaged or stolen while they are at school.

Students are reminded that rollerblading, cycling, and/or skateboarding only as a means of transportation to and from school is permitted. Other use on the school grounds or in the Southland Leisure Centre parking lot at lunch may result in loss or restriction of riding privileges.
