Re-Entry Plan for September Released
Alberta Government Announces In-Person Classes to Resume Sept. 1
Year-End Message for Families
Thank You for Outstanding Response on Re-Entry Surveys!
Thank you to all of you who came to pick up your child (ren) belongings last week. If for some reason you were not able to come by, please contact the office and we can set up a time for you to come this week.
It's hard to believe that this will be the last week of school for students! On Friday, June 26th, you will have access to your child (ren)’s report card. You will need to log into your CBE account to get access to the report card as we only print them for the Official Student Record. If you require a printed copy, please call the school this week and Jan will have it available for pick-up only on Friday June 26. Appeals Day will be on Monday June 29th from 8 am - 1 pm.
I encourage all parents to keep an eye on the news on August 1st as the Government of Alberta will announce their plan for school re-entry in September. Information about the re-entry scenarios can be found at: https://www.alberta.ca/k-to-12-school-re-entry-2020-21-school-year.aspx. Re-Entry decisions will also be posted on the CBE website.
To all our wonderful parents and family members who have volunteered their time to help support students and teachers at King George school, we say a big thank you. Although we are not able to have our annual Café Croissant this year to express our thanks, please know that the time and energy you put in to making King George School a wonderful place to learn and grow has not gone unnoticed. From being part of the Parent Reading Program and volunteering in classrooms, to helping out at school events, your time is truly appreciated and we value each and every single one of you. We hope that you have a wonderful summer and we look forward to working with you again in the fall.
June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day, a day to celebrate and recognize the heritage, diversity, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. According to Government of Canada, “The Canadian Constitution recognizes these three groups as Aboriginal peoples, also known as Indigenous peoples. Although these groups share many similarities, they each have their own distinct heritage, language, cultural practices and spiritual beliefs" (https://www.rcaanc-cirnac.gc.ca/eng/1100100013718/1534874583157). King George School is committed to learning about the contributions and diverse cultures of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples throughout the year. For more information on Indigenous Education in the CBE, please visit: https://cbe.ab.ca/news-centre/Pages/celebrating-national-indigenous-peoples-day-june-21-2020.aspx. We hope you enjoy celebrating the Summer Solstice!
Beach Week is next week! Your child can dress for the beach in their Meets. Some items they could wear include beach hats, sunglasses, summer shirts or dresses.
Summer comes and goes so fast! We hope that you will enjoy spending relaxing times with your family and friends. The staff joins us in wishing you all a fabulous summer! We are looking forward to seeing you all in September!
