June 2020 Update

Hello LBS Families,

Thank you to everyone for your support during these months of Ongoing Learning by engaging with us, offering your appreciation and suggestions for improvement, and sharing your thoughts regarding this unusual time.  Your feedback is valued!

We expect many of you are wondering what to expect when school resumes on September 1, 2020. We do not, yet, have any specific details related to whether classes will resume in a face-to-face format, continue online or start somewhere in between. We want to assure families that we are planning to welcome students back to learning, in some way! CBE will follow the guidelines and protocols set out by AHS with specific action plans for each division level school.

One of our hopes is that your children/our students are beginning to know that learning doesn’t happen only at school and that wondering, wandering, trying, struggling, questioning and trying again are all part of their learning journey.  Everyone’s mindsets are shifting and children are experiencing these shifts, too. Children can build confidence through this experience. Even during times of uncertainty, they can continue to learn and do hard things which develops skills that can lead to perseverance in the coming months and years, as the whole world attempts to cope with the impacts of this pandemic - culturally, financially, physically and emotionally.

We look forward to when we can return to the vibrant and exciting world of face-to-face school. Until then, we hope you and your family are safe, healthy and coping as best as can be expected.

RT @globalfestyyc: Last week, GlobalFest was a proud participant in the Bob Edwards Diversity and Peace Conference. With the theme of “Acceptance is our Superpower”, GlobalFest was able to host Virgin Radio Host Andrew Uyeno in a classroom discussion about what it means to be biracial. https://t.co/WLOrHlIvSg
