Construction 10

Wood Tech 10

In this exploratory course, students learn how to safely use hand and power tools along with a variety of construction and furniture making materials as they build projects related to

house framing and furniture making. Students will work with project plans and shop drawings to gain an introduction to Construction Trades and Cabinetmaking.

• A fee is charged to cover the cost of personal safety equipment and project materials.

Construction Trades 20 & 30

In Construction Trades 20 & 30 students learn a variety of skills related to residential construction.

Framing, roofing, electrical wiring, plumbing, project management, stair construction, siding, insulation and drywall are all skills students will be exposed to in the program. The program follows the standards of the Carpentry Apprenticeship and cultivates the skills required for the Skills Alberta Carpentry competition.

Cabinetmaking 20 & 30

In Cabinetmaking 20, students learn how to build a frame and panel cabinet with doors and drawers. Students also work with veneer and different finishing products in their cabinet. The program follows the standards of the Cabinetmaking

Apprenticeship and cultivates the skills required for Alberta Cabinetmaking and Joinery competitions.

In Cabinetmaking 30 students learn how to build tables, chairs, and countertops. Students also work with veneer and learn about tool maintenance. The program follows the standards of the Cabinetmaking Apprenticeship and cultivates the skills required for the Skills Alberta Cabinetmaking and Joinery competitions.

• A fee is charged to cover the cost of materials if the student wishes to take a project home.
