Thank you very much to parents, students and staff for another great week at Marion Carson School. In this message you will find the following pieces of information.

Terry Fox Run – September 21, 2022

Our school’s Terry Fox Run will be on September 21, 2022. The Terry Fox Organization has funded 1,300 research projects and raised $850 million for cancer research to date. Terry Fox continued to be a role model for our students to be Compassionate, Courageous, and Determined. Students and staff will be having an online assembly at 9:30am, and then will be going outside for the run from 9:45am until approximately 10:15am. Students should dress appropriately for the weather and be prepared to be active (runners, a water bottle, and a hat if necessary). Parents are invited to join this event for the outdoor run portion from 9:45 to 10:15 if willing and able. If planning to join, please wait outside near the school soccer fields where the event will occur.

Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences – Sept 22 and 23, 2022

Our first Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences are fast approaching. We are excited to invite parents back into the building for these conferences for the first time since before the pandemic. This is one of the ways that Marion Carson School builds a strong network of support for student learning. These conferences are specifically an opportunity for parents to share any important information with their child’s homeroom teacher to support their learning at school, while also allowing the teacher to share initial steps in each child’s first month of learning. All parents should plan on signing up for a meeting with their homeroom teacher. When in the building, you are also invited to drop in to the Music Room to meet our new Music Teacher Mrs. Seto. School Council Executive members will also be setup at the front doors sharing information about the council and how you could get involved (volunteer opportunities, join the executive, participate in council/society meetings and more)

Conferences will occur in-person at Marion Carson School by appointment on the following dates:

  • Sept. 22, 2022 from 4:30pm – 8:00pm
  • Sept. 23, 2022 from 8:00am – 1:00pm

When to book?

  • Conference sign-up occurs online through your child’s MyCBE account.
  • Conference booking opens Saturday, September 17th at 10am
  • Conference booking closes Wednesday, September 21st at 3pm

For support on booking a conference, please see this Booking School Conferences Parent Guide.

School Photo Day – September 22, 2022

Individual Student Photos will occur on this day for all students attending school. Full Day M/W Kindergarten will have their photos taken on Photo Retake Day, scheduled for Monday, October 19, 2022.

Alien Inline (K-4 Students) – September 19 to October 6, 2022

Please send children to school ready to be active. Forms have been sent home for your review, signature and return. A reminder to please return forms and visit your child’s MyCBE account to process your payment for this engaging, athletic program by September 19, 2022.

Update on Fees

Noon supervision and transportation fees will be posted centrally by the Calgary Board of Education. This typically occurs in October.

Interested in Volunteering?

Before volunteering, you will need to have completed the following process:
