Principal's Message - Nov. 4, 2022

Dear Parents / Guardians,

Winter weather has arrived! It was wonderful seeing and hearing the joy and laughter that comes with a school field full of snow. We would like to thank all families for sending their children to school with warm clothing (winter jacket, toque, snow pants, gloves and boots) to ensure an enjoyable and safe experience during outdoor times. A reminder that students go outside multiple times throughout the day, and indoor recess only occurs when the temperature dips to -20 or lower.

Here are a few key messages

1.     Remembrance Day

Our Remembrance Day assembly will be led by our Grade 1 and Grade 5 students on November 10th at 10:30am. Parents from Grade 1 and Grade 5 to attend if able and willing. Please note that due to fire safety code we have to limit our parent viewing to the first 100 parents. Doors will open at 10:25am. If waiting outside, we ask that you please line up along the Main West Door sidewalk leading out towards Varsity Drive.

All students from K-6 are invited to wear service uniforms on this day should they participate in these after school activities (e.g. brownies, girl guides, cubs, etc.)

2.     Food Drive – Veteran's Food Bank of Calgary

We will be collecting food donations for the Veteran's Food Bank of Calgary from Nov. 7 to 10, 2022. They are accepting all food donations, but have stated that they are especially in need of the following: canned items, brown sugar, bread yeast, cereal, flour, mayonnaise, Kleenex, evaporated milk, juice, dishwasher soap, all-purpose cleaners, granola bars, laundry soaps, oils for cooking, crackers, rice, baking soda, pancake mix, ensure, garbage bags, tinfoil, men's underwear, salad dressing, plastic wrap, toilet paper, shower gel / shampoo.
