Dear Parents / Guardians,
With students and staff having no school on November 11, 2022, we held our Remembrance Day assembly this morning, led by our Grade 1 and 5 students from our Community English Program. We would like to thank our Grade 1 and Grade 5 Community English students and teachers, supported by many of our Grade 6 students, for leading the event with words and songs of remembrance through the virtue of courage.
1. Food Drive – Veteran's Food Bank of Calgary
Thank you, Marion Carson community, for your generosity towards the Veteran's Food Bank of Calgary. We will continue to accept food bank items until Wednesday, November 16, 2022.
2. Safety Video AMA Patrols
Please take the time to watch this 1 minute by video with your family created by AMA to support safety on our roads Serious Safety with the AMA School Safety Patrol.
3. Fun Lunch - Friday, November 18, 2022
The next fun lunch of this school year, which is on November 18, 2022 with Mary Brown's, is now live on the healthy hunger website (https://healthyhunger.ca/). The deadline for ordering will be November 13, 2022 midnight!
*Please note, Fun Lunch on Friday, November 18 is being offered to Grade 1- 6 classes and ONLY Mandarin Group A Kindergarten class as this is the only kindergarten class that will be in attendance over the nutrition break on that day.
Thank you for supporting this fund raiser throughout the school year. It shows the tremendous appreciation we have for our awesome teachers and staff. Thank you to Janie our Fun lunch Coordinator for organizing these events throughout the year.
4. Staffing Updates:
We would like to welcome Mrs. Cole who will join our school in the Mandarin Bilingual Grade 4 classroom as of November 14th, 2022. Mrs. Cole will be sharing a homeroom with Mrs. Wang part time until the remainder of the year as we redeploy Mrs. Wang to support all K-4 Mandarin classrooms in literacy and numeracy.
5. School Council Casino
A special thank you to all people who volunteered for our casino event yesterday and who will be volunteering today and tonight. We appreciate all of your support. This event provides valuable resources to Marion Carson School students now and in the future.
6. School Council Meeting
The Marion Carson School Council and Parent Association welcomes all parents/guardians to join us for our next meeting on Wednesday November 16th, 2022 at 7:00pm. The meeting will be occurring in a hybrid format both in our Library Learning Commons and online. We look forward to connecting with parents/guardians about our school community and initiatives. The Meeting Minutes from our previous meeting and our Agenda for the upcoming meeting are attached.
