Weekly Message - Feb. 10, 2023

A reminder that due to Teacher's Convention and Family Day students do not have school Feb. 16, 17, and 20th. School resumes Tuesday, February 21, 2023.

1.     Valentine's Day Activities

Students are invited to wear red, pink, or white clothing. Teachers will be sharing information specific to their classroom regarding Valentine's Day learning and activities, and details about any items coming to school. Please connect with your teacher should you have classroom-specific questions for this day.

2.     School Council Updates

Fun Lunch - Friday, February 24, 2023

The next fun lunch will be on February 24, 2023 with CoCo Brooks, which is now live on the healthy hunger website! https://healthyhunger.ca/ The deadline for ordering will be February 19, 2023 midnight!

Please note, Fun Lunch on February 24 is being offered to Grade 1- 6 classes and ONLY Community Kindergarten class as this is the only kindergarten class that will be in attendance over the nutrition break on that day.

School Council needs volunteers to help distribute lunches. Please sign up here if you will be able to help. Thank you for supporting this fund raiser throughout the school year. It shows the tremendous appreciation we have for our awesome teachers and staff. * If a child is sick, and parents would like to pick up fun lunches for their absent students, please contact the school to arrange pick up on the same day of the fun lunch.  No fun lunches will be kept for students over the weekend.

Book Fair: Coming up in March we will be hosting a favourite event of our students - the Scholastic Book Fair! We will require quite a few parent volunteers with Security Clearance to run the event, so if you haven't done so already, please stop by the school office with valid photo ID and they can help you get your letter to complete your Volunteer Security Clearance check. It does take a few weeks to be processed, so if you are interested in helping out for the book fair it would be a good idea to start the process right away.

Staff Appreciation: As a big “Thank You" to all of the staff at the school, we are hosting a Staff Appreciation event on February 14th and 15th before they head to Teachers Convention.  We are still looking for a couple more bakers, cooks, or grocery store shoppers to help feed our teachers! Please click the link below to see all if the details and to sign up to bring one item. Thank you to everyone who has already signed up for this and all of our events this year!

Sincerely,

Mr. D. Turner
