Thank you to all families for coming to celebrate in your child's learning these past two days during student-led conferences. This opportunity for students to share their learning with their families helps further promote a sense of responsibility for their own learning, as well as moments of pride and joy.

A few items of note…

1.     St. Patrick's Day – March 17, 2023

Students are invited to join in on some added school spirit by wearing green clothing to school on Friday March. 17, 2023. Happy St. Patrick's Day!

2.     Scholastic Book Fair

There was a very large interest at our in-person book fair. A reminder that families continue to be invited to purchase books online through the virtual link book fair using the following link open until March 13, 2023. https://virtualbookfairs.scholastic.ca/pages/5195332.

3.     Schoolyard Safety

A friendly reminder that our dismissal time from Monday to Thursday is 3:50pm and Friday is at 1:20pm. We kindly ask that parents be at the school before this time near their child's entry doors or at a predetermined pick-up spot to ensure that their child is supervised immediately upon dismissal. If your child walks home from school, we ask that you remind them to immediately make their way home to ensure their own safety between home and school. Additionally, our neighbouring school St. Vincent de Paul, has requested that children do not play on their side of the school property while their students are in school, and avoid playing near the garbage bins between our two schools at any time. A reminder that their school does not have early dismissal on Fridays and students are still in session when we dismiss on these days. For those, curious, we use the chain link fence beside our creative playground as a line towards the back soccer fields to separate the two properties while both schools are in session.

4.     School Council / Parent Association Meeting

Our next School Council / Parent Association meeting is this Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 7pm and will be occurring in a hybrid format both in our Library Learning Commons (doors open at 6:45pm) and online (link below). This meeting will include a Question & Answer period with our Area 1 Education Director Dr. Mike Nelson. Dr. Nelson (Mike) is our Education Director and he supports 22 schools / education sites in Area 1 (NW Calgary). In his role he works with principals to support their instructional leadership, management, and building capacity in alignment with the CBE's Education Plan.  Mike also leads the CBE's Teaching and Learning with Technology and Learning Resources teams. To support the coordination of this meeting, School Council is asking questions to be submitted in advance through the following questions form.
