1. Learning Celebration – Tuesday, May 16, 2023 (led by Grade 2/3 Community English Students)
Community English Program students in our Grade 2/3 classes are leading our upcoming learning celebration on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 starting at 1:00pm. This celebration focuses on sharing student learning including a focus on the 7 Sacred Teachings, the wolf and the virtue of Humility.
We would like to invite parents of performing students from our Grade 2/3 Community English Program classes to attend. Please note that due to fire safety code we have to limit our parent viewing to the first 100 parents. Doors will open at 12:55pm. If waiting outside, we ask that you please line up along the Main West Door sidewalk leading out towards Varsity Drive.
2. Marion Carson Run Club
We've been lucky with all of the great weather offered on running club days! This morning was another great running club event that had students start off their day in an active way. Students have taken up the challenge of gathering popsicle sticks for laps, as we try to grow our total each week. This morning we used up almost all of our 2000 popsicle sticks. Our next run club date in Friday May 19, 2023. Whether you want to walk or run, we look forward to seeing any and all parents and students by the soccer fields starting at 8:55am.
3. School Council / Parent Association Meeting
Our next School Council / Parent Association meeting is on May 24, 2023 at 7pm and is our Annual General Meeting (AGM). This is when the upcoming executive and committee positions for the upcoming school year are filled. It will be occurring in a hybrid format both in our Library Learning Commons (doors open at 6:45pm) and online.
Council Executive is looking to fill the following roles for next year at the Annual General Meeting (AGM):
- Chair
- Vice-Chair
- Secretary
If you are interested in filling any of these roles, we invite you to contact the School Council at mcschoolcouncil@gmail.com for more information, or attend the upcoming AGM. The Marion Carson School Council / Parent Association Information Deck shares information about the Council in general and describes each role in more detail.
The meeting link and agenda will be sent out during next week's message.
4. Fun Lunch – May 19, 2023
The next fun lunch will be on May 19, 2023 with Papa John's, which is now live on the healthy hunger website at https://healthyhunger.ca/. The deadline for ordering will be May 14, 2023 midnight!
Please note, Fun Lunch on May 19 is being offered to Grade 1- 6 classes and ONLY Community English Kindergarten class as this is the only kindergarten class that will be in attendance over the nutrition break on that day. If parents would like to pick up fun lunches for their absent students, please contact the school to arrange pick up during the school day on May 19. No fun lunches will be kept for students over the weekend.
Thank you for supporting this fundraiser throughout the school year. It shows the tremendous appreciation we have for our awesome teachers and staff.
5. Parent Association Marion Carson Bottle Drive - Friday May 26, 2023
What? Please support our school by donating refundable bottles/cans. Drop off will be in front of the school at a designated drop zone near the start of the hug and go. Volunteers will be there to grab bottle from you so that you don't have to park.
When? May 26th from 8:50AM – 930 AM and from 1:00PM – 4:00PM
