Important Dates

We follow the CBE traditional calendar. The calendar sets common start and end days, non-instructional days and holidays. For our school’s additional non-instructional days, late entries, early dismissal days and events, see our school calendar page.​

The Calgary Board of Education continues to plan for the health measures that may be in place for the next school year. More details will be shared with families before the first day of classes.

Back to School Information

First Day of Classes 

For the 2021-22 school year we will have a staggered entry. Our first day of classes is Wednesday, Sept.1, 2021.  ONLY Grade 4 and grade 5 students will attend on Wednesday, September 1.  On Thursday, September 2, all students will attend.  The school office is open to parents on Aug. 27, from 9AM- 12PM and on Aug. 30 & 31, 2020  from 9 AM - 2 PM each day.

Student homerooms and timetables will be available for viewing on Tuesday, August 31.  Log into MyCBE/PowerSchool account.

School Start & End Times

Our bell times are 

Monday to Thursday  8:30 AM – 3:17 PM 
Friday and Modified Dismissal Days 8:30 AM – 12:40 PM 

It is recommended students arrive at school by 8:20 each morning to allow them the time needed to visit their lockers and get settled. Students who are not seated in class and ready to learn when the second bell rings at 8:30 will be marked absent.

Staggered Entry Plan

  • Wednesday, Sept. 1: Grade 4 & 5 students ONLY
  • Thursday Sept. 2: ALL STUDENTS 

On September 1 & 2 students will take part in homeroom activities including getting to know their classmates and the building. We will also be running a shortened modified schedule to allow students the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the new routines around the school.

On the first day students will also bring home an information package that includes a number of documents that need to be signed and returned to the school, as well as information such as calendars and other school information for you to keep.

Parking and Drop-Off

There is no parking at all in front of the school on McKenzie Town Drive or on the north side of the school on Inverness Park SE. 

The front of the school, McKenzie Town Drive SE is marked as follows ◦BUS ZONE (no parking or stopping) 

North side of the school, Inverness Park SE is marked as follows ◦NO PARKING – Hug and Go (parents may stop and let their child out)

No drop off or pick up in staff parking lot.

Visitor Limitation

The number of visitors (including parents and caregivers) admitted in to the school will be significantly limited.  Please use email and phone calls for communication.  Additionally all fees will be paid online through MyCBE/PowerSchool.

School Supplies

We do not have specific school supply lists.

Grade 4-6 students will be provided school supplies by the school.  The following is not provided by the school:

  • indoor shoes
  • lunch kits
  • backpack 

Grade 7-9 students will need basic school supplies to start the year.

  • binder
  • ruler
  • pencils
  • pens
  • lined paper
  • glue
  • coloring pencils
  • dividers
  • erasers


Teachers will provide more detailed supplies that are required for their classes on the first day of school to students.

​​Do You Have a MyCBE / PowerSchool Parent Account?

Parents who have not already done so, must create an account in MyCBE / PowerSchool to:

  • Pay fees or apply for a waiver

  • Register for transportation and lunch supervision

  • View student progress

To create a new account, go to www.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe and click on Create Parent Account. You will need to have your child(ren)’s CBE Student ID Number and use your email on file at the school.​

​​Fees and Waivers

School fees will be charged to families starting in October. Online fee payment is the simplest and most convenient way to pay school fees. Parents can use their online account to pay fees or apply for a waiver at: www.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe.

​​Yellow School Bus Tra​nsportation

Yellow school bus routes for the 2021-22 school year are created o​ver the summer and based on the addresses submitted before the pre-registration deadline in June. Transportation continues to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing stop with available space. Processing times could be up to six weeks at the beginning of the school year due to volume.

Your bus stop location and time will be available in your MyCBE / PowerSchool account by mid-August.

Conditional riders can also register using MyCBE / PowerSchool. Applications will be considered after eligible riders registrations have been processed.
