Dear McKenzie Lake Families,
This morning we welcomed those that have volunteered at our school in varying capacities, to attend our Volunteer Tea. Teachers provided snacks and refreshments and Ms. Kvicala organized the entertainment, having different classes perform songs using spoons and djembe drums, followed by grade 3 students singing What a Wonderful World. Volunteers support the school in a variety of capacities, whether it be supporting in classrooms, the library, preparing materials at home or attending field trips. Each volunteer has a positive impact on McKenzie Lake School and we cannot thank you enough for your contributions!
Throughout the year, Grade 1 students have been learning about how our communities past and how it has been influenced by events or people of the past. On Thursday, MLS had over 100 Grade 1 students arrive at Heritage Park eager to explore and connect their classroom learning by taking a trip into the past. They arrived at school with high energy and excitement about their field trip, and ended successfully with some falling asleep on the bus ride home!
This week our Grade 5 students worked with Stream of Dreams to design and paint their fish. Their fish mural will be installed on the fence by the west playground this coming week! During our School Council meeting, we had a few parents state that they were able to volunteer to help with the Grade 5 Stream of Dreams installation, if needed. Grade 5 teachers were able to secure enough volunteers from their classes, so we will not require additional support. Thank you so much for volunteering to step in, if needed.
Library Books
Mrs. Knox is requesting all library book be returned this week. For any outstanding books not returned, a reminder will be sent home before invoices for replacing the book are sent home.
