Dear Parents & Guardians,
First and foremost we would like to thank those families and staff that have been impacted by the isolation this week, having some students transition to learning at home. You supporting your child's learning at home is greatly appreciated. We also are grateful to our staff this week in their flexibility. As you may or may not be aware, there has been an shortage of substitute teachers and support staff. As a result teachers have had to be very flexible, sacrificing their prep time and covering for each other.
Highlights from each grade can be found on your child's Google Classroom and many teachers have included photos and vidoes of the learning happening each week. Some highlights from this week include:
Kindergarten students in Mrs. Rupert's class are very excited about their new classroom pets. They received mystery eggs and have been making prediction while observing the eggs that are in their classroom. Some of their predictions so far include turtles, crocodiles, snakes and birds.
EES students have been busy building their vocabulary with regards to plants and places to visit within our community (ex. Calgary Zoo, Saddledome).
Grade 4 students started learning about plants as well as finalizing their Rube Goldberg designs.
Grade 3 students learning about the ear and sound vibrations in science, as well as fractions as parts of a whole in math.
Grade 2 students have been engaged in experiments related to creating items that will sink and/or float, as well as learning about stories from the past and how they connect to the present.
Grade 1 students have been building and refining their playground designs and learning about ways to measure things to solve problems.
