Attendance

Attendance Line: 403-777-6185

McKenzie Towne School has a “safety phone-in attendance policy”. Parents are required to phone the school prior to 8:00 AM or 12:18 PM at the number above if your child is going to be absent or late. If the school has not received a telephone call from you and your child is absent, the school will attempt to phone you at home or work. We depend on you to phone us. A large number of confirmations delay the response time needed if we do have an emergency. Please ensure that we have all updated phone numbers.

Regular, Punctual Attendance is Important

Regular attendance and a habit of being on time are important to a child’s progress. We expect that appointments, visits, lessons and holidays are planned so that they do not interrupt school times, if at all possible. Children miss instruction that is impossible to make up if they are taken out during school hours. If this cannot be avoided, we ask that a note, explaining the reason and time the child will be picked up, be sent to the teacher.

Late Policy

Students who arrive after the entry bell and after classes have entered the school are asked to enter through the front doors and check into the office for a late slip. All other outside doors will be kept locked for security reasons. Please assist us by using this late entry procedure with your child.

On-Time Pick-up Request

Parents should meet their child at the school office to sign them out. Students cannot be released without the written consent of the parent. Please avoid picking up your children before the designated lunch or afternoon dismissal times. The final minutes of the morning and afternoon are important organizational times for students and teachers.
