Music

The Music Program at MTS is one that focuses on a “hands-on” approach to musical learning.  Incorporating the pedagogical methods of Kodaly and Orff, the students’ music education is delivered in a way that caters to their natural musicality. Children’s sense of play is at the heart of the Music Education Program at MTS and all learning styles are recognized and included in the music classroom.  Through the Kodaly stages of learning, “presenting”, “practicing” and “making the concept conscious”, students are able to achieve and celebrate their successes because of the subjects’ flexibility to adhere to all students learning needs.

Through various conferences, presentations and workshops attended throughout the year, the students at MTS are given the opportunity to learn from a variety of highly educated and credited sources from all over Canada, the United States and even Europe.

Extra-Curricular activities at MTS are also offered throughout the year to provide students with further opportunities to collaborate, engage and celebrate with their student community.

I thank you for your continued support of the Music Program at McKenzie Towne School and look forward to our work together in the future!
