It is hard to believe that April is here! Students have returned from Spring Break and all the regular routines of school are back in place. Although thoughts of spring weather float through our heads, the reality of Calgary’s climate means who knows what tomorrow will bring!
In April, the process for preparing for the next school year begins in earnest. Budgeting and staffing are completed during April and submitted in May. These processes reflect the number of students projected to attend the school in the next year. Budgets and staffing are finalized in September once the number of students are confirmed.
On Tuesday, 05 April 2022, Midnapore School had its first off campus trip in two years. The Grade 6 students travelled to MidSun School to learn about junior high school and the opportunities that a new school and new grade will offer. Students arrived back excited and equipped with cool new shades!
As opportunities present themselves, more classes are exploring the chance to get students out of the building and explore their community, visit other sites in support of curriculum and to experience learning outside the school building. The benefits of experiential learning are huge. Sadly not all desired destinations are prepared for student groups but that number will get smaller as organizations gear up following the lifting of restrictions.
We are excited to see you all on Thursday, 19 May 2022. The school will host a drop-in “Re-connection” evening (5:30-7:00pm) to welcome the community back into the school. This event not about discussing student progress but rather on meeting staff face-to-face, seeing the building and doing an “art walk” of student work. School Council will be present to share information about its activities. Please join us if you are able!
Thank you for your continued support of your children and Midnapore School!
