CBE Schools Raise $163,886 for Cancer Research
Dear Mount View Families, Today all the students at Mount View were gifted a Mount View School t-shirt of their own. Last year we received a generous donation from Critical Mass, which allowed us to cover the cost of school shirts for every student in the school. We thank Critical Mass for their donation, and patience when the process was derailed due to the pandemic. A sense of community and belonging are so critical in a school and even more so while we are under covid-19 restrictions and can’t get together as a whole group yet. Going forward, we encourage students to wear their blue MVS shirts for school spirit days, when we get back to having field trips or off site activities, or other special days. Our first School Spirit Day will be next week on Wednesday April 21, so please have the shirts washed and ready to go! The story of the graphics: Ms. Thompson worked with a team of leadership students over a series of lunch hours alongside our own Design Specialist Mr. Ian Regier, to create a unique design where the students picked every element, including the colour of the shirts. Students wanted to show us climbing up a mountain together as a whole school with Mackie at the top encouraging us to keep trying. The compass was included to know where we are going and to be guided in the right direction. The rope was added between each person to show we all work together and help each other out. The stars are there to represent the staff and peers who light our way. The leadership team felt this represented our Motto: Climbing to Higher Heights: Every Step Counts. We are so impressed with the work that the team put into designing this gift and are very proud to have such awesome designers and thoughtful planners at Mount View School! Thank you for volunteering your time! Thank you so much to Mr. Regier for helping the students reach their vision, for getting the best deal possible so that we can even have extra shirts on hand for new students, and for organizing the printing and delivery. Thank you to School Council Chair Katherine Parsons for organizing all of the shirts by size for ease of distribution today.
