Greetings MPS Families!
From all of us at MPS, Happy New Year and welcome back from winter break. I am writing to review and remind parents, guardians and students regarding our expectations for online learning starting on January 4th.
First off, to all our HUB Families, some teachers are linked to schools other than MPS. For some of these teachers, Monday, January 4 is a PD day and teachers will be involved in their own learning and not offering synchronous learning. Please log into Brightspace/D2L to find out what your teachers' plans are for the day (January 4) and follow their directions. January 4 is not a PD day for MPS and thus learning will start as expected for MPS HUB students and MPS HUB teachers following the same pre-winter break schedules.
For all of our grades 5-9 "in-person" students, January 4th will be a regular school day utilizing our virtual learning platforms. This will be a continuation of online learning for grades 7-9 and a new adventure for grades 5 and 6. Teachers went over their specific expectations with grades 5 and 6 students before the winter break so please refer to their instructions (on Brightspace/D2L) in order to understand how each individual teacher is running their online classrooms. Please contact each teacher directly via email if you have any questions or concerns. Click here to access teacher email addresses. Ms. Graham will be teaching all of Mr. Davis's classes from Janary 4th - January 29th and will be using Mr. Davis's D2L/Brightspace courses to start. Please click here for her email address. Expectations for grades 7-9 are consistent with what was happening before the winter break. One common expectation is that every student checks in with their teacher(s) at the beginning of every class for attendance and to participate. If a student is ill or cannot attend an online class for any reason please email the attendance mailbox directly and cc any associated teacher (MPSattendance@cbe.ab.ca). We will be following a week 1 timetable with the full compliment of option and P.E. classes running as well. Please follow and respect each specific teacher's expectations regarding their online classroom environment. In summary, every student in grades 5-9 is expected to be present in their online classroom(s) 6 times a day for the week of January 4-8, 2021. You can access teacher names and each specific students schedule on Power School. Please refer to the attached PDF document for our MPS bell schedule/class start and end times.
In person learning resumes on January 11, 2021 and we will be operating under the same COVID-19 guidelines and saftety protocols as in the fall.
Entry/Exit door locations and protocols will also be in plase. Please click here to review our re-entry document and safety protocols or refer to the attached PDF documents. We are very excited to have the students return to in person learning!!
Thank You for your time and attention!
