June 2023

Dear Olympic Heights School Community,

As we approach the end of another remarkable academic year, I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on the journey we have embarked upon together and express my heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering dedication and commitment to our school. The 2022-2023 academic year has been one filled with challenges, triumphs, and moments of extraordinary growth. Through it all, our collective focus on the three pillars of care - care for yourself, care for others, and care for this place - has shone brightly.

First and foremost, I want to commend each and every one of you for embracing the notion of caring for yourselves. In the midst of academic pressures, extracurricular commitments, and personal challenges, you have consistently prioritized your well-being and recognized the importance of self-care. Your resilience and determination have inspired us all, reminding us that we must nurture our own physical, mental, and emotional health in order to thrive and make a positive impact on the world around us.

Equally significant is the immense care you have shown for others within our school community. From acts of kindness and compassion to lending a helping hand, you have exemplified the true spirit of unity and support. Whether it was through inclusive initiatives, peer mentorship programs, or simply being there for a friend in need, your empathy and willingness to foster a caring environment have fostered an atmosphere of belonging that sets our school apart.

Lastly, I am deeply grateful for your profound care for this place we call Olympic Heights School. Each one of you has played a vital role in cultivating a nurturing and respectful learning environment that we can all be proud of. Your efforts to maintain cleanliness, protect our resources, and engage in sustainable practices demonstrate a profound sense of stewardship for our school, ensuring that future generations will continue to benefit from its welcoming embrace.

As we approach the end of this academic year, I would also like to bid farewell to those teachers and students who will not be returning to Olympic Heights School in the fall. Your contributions to our community have been invaluable, and we will miss your unique talents, perspectives, and presence. As you embark on new adventures and explore different horizons, please know that you will forever be a part of the Olympic Heights legacy. The bonds forged within these walls transcend time and space, and our shared memories will continue to inspire and uplift us all.

In conclusion, I encourage each and every one of you to finish this academic year strong. Take pride in your accomplishments, big and small, and celebrate the growth and progress you have made. As we step into the next chapter of our educational journey, let us remember the importance of caring for ourselves, caring for others, and caring for this place. Together, we can create a brighter future and continue to make Olympic Heights School a place where care and compassion thrive.

Thank you for an incredible year. Adam and I am honored to serve as your principals, and we look forward to the adventures that await all of us in the coming year.

With warmest regards,

Trevor Barkley, Principal

Adam Eakins, Assistant Principal
