May 2023 Newsletter

Dear Families,

Happy May! We are excited for sunshine, warmer weather and more outside learning opportunities in the coming months. These last few months are busy, with a variety of learning opportunities and I wanted to share some particulars with you.

We had our second lockdown drill of the year this morning. We are so proud of our students who were calm, quiet and did exactly what they needed to do. Calgary Police was on site to support with this drill and were very complementary of how our staff and students handled the process. Well done!

We are getting set for Circus School next week! Green Fools Theater will be here from May 8-11 to work with all students during their PE class. Students will be exploring different types of movement skills with a trained instructor and Ms. Halls.

Another exciting event is the arrival of eggs! Students are exploring animal and plant growth through their various science curriculums and in support of this work we will have chicken and quail eggs on site for the month of May. We will have the opportunity to learn about the process and timeline of the eggs hatching and will host the baby chicks for a few weeks as well. We are looking forward to this great learning opportunity. Along with this, we are utilizing our outdoor learning space and planting a garden. Students are exploring different types of plants, their growth cycles and the process for planting.

Swimming lessons are later this month. Please watch your email for a list of requirements for lesson days. Forms went home last week and it important these are returned to your child’s teacher as soon as possible! We want all students attending and learning water safety skills.

Reminder, Kindergarten registration is ongoing and if you have new students joining us or know of someone joining our community, we encourage that the registration process is done as soon as possible. This helps us to make sure we have the staff and support in place for our students, for September.
