Office Hours
The main office re-opens Monday, August 28 at 9am. Office hours, for our start-up, will be as follows:
August 28, 29 and 30 - 9am-3pm
For the remainder of the year, the office hours will be:
Monday-Thursday 8am-3:30pm
Friday 8am-12:30pm
If you need support from Bawar, our admin secretary, we would ask that you contact her to make an appointment or drop in anytime after 9am. Between 8 and 9am our office is quite busy with late arrivals and other morning routines. This will allow her to give you to time and attention you require.
First Days of School
The first day of school is Thursday, August 31, 2023. Grade 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 teachers will meet their classes on the field, beginning at 8:10am. School begins at 8:20am. Teachers will be in contact, prior to the first day to welcome your child to their class. Please watch your email for a message.
Kindergarten Staggered Entry
Our kindergarten program is full-day.
As this is student’s first school experience we begin with a staggered entry. This means students will attend for a shorter time, over the first week. This allows them to get accustomed to the school and routines. It also allows our staff to get to know them and best place them in their homeroom class.
Your child will be assigned a staggered entry group (A. B or C) and they will attend, according to the following schedule:
Thursday August 31st, 2023 | 9:30am-10:30am 1:30pm-2:30pm |
Friday September 1st, 2023 | 9:30am-10:30am |
Tuesday September 5th, 2023 | 9:30am-11:30am 1:00pm-3:00pm |
Wednesday September 6th, 2023 | 9:30am-11:30am |
Thursday September 7th, 2023 | 9:00am-12:00pm
|
Friday September 8th. 2023 | 8:20am-12:00pm |
Arrival and dismissal on the first few days of school will be at the front door of the school.
If you are unsure of your child's staggered entry group, please contact the main office.
Bell Times & Attendance
Bell times for the 2023-2024 school year are:
Monday-Thursday 8:20am-3:13pm
Friday 8:20am-12pm
If your child is late arriving at school, they enter through the main doors and will proceed to class after checking in at the office. A reminder to phone the school to report late arrivals or absences. If we are not contacted, you will recieved an automated message reporting your child's absence.
Regular and punctual attendance is very important and we look forward to seeing all our learners daily.
Our school calendar is attached can be found on our website.
MyCBE Account
Parents/guardians require a PowerSchool account (called your MyCBE account). This will allow families to navigate achievement data, report cards, booking parent teacher conferences and many other features. Please follow this link for directions on how to create your account. You can also contact Bawar if you have any questions.
Class Placements
We would ask that parents refrain from contacting the school to make class change requests, particularily regarding classmates and teachers. Our staff has worked hard to place all students in the right classroom environment (both academically and socially). Please remember that one student move has an immense impact on everyone.
Teacher Contact
A reminder that your child's teacher is your first point of contact if you have questions or concerns. Email is often the best way to initiate contact and staff will contact you via email or phone within 24-hours. Teacher contact informaion can be found on our website.
Dismissal
At the end of the day, students must be picked up by a designated adult. Your child's teacher will notify you of their pick-up location. A staff member will be there to radio the teacher that you are present for pick-up. Students with permission to walk home will require a completed permission form which will be kept on file in the office. This form will be distrubuted the first day of classes.
We would ask families to please follow the rules of the road when picking up students. Park in assigned areas and do not stop in the middle of the road. The safety of our students, staff and families is of the utmost importance.
ISSP Program
Patrick Airlie is once again privledged to be supported by the Integrated School Support Program (ISSP). This allows us to provide our breakfast and lunch programs, well-being supports and daily phsyical education. We will share more details about ISSP in the coming weeks.
We look forward to seeing our students and families. Please continue to monitor your email and our school website for updates throughout the year. Any questions, please reach out to the main office for support.
All the best,
Mary-Elizabeth Kaiser Claudette Groudeau
