September 2023 Newsletter - First Days of School

Dear Families,

It has been fantastic to have our students back to school this week! It has been wonderful to feel the welcoming atmosphere in each class and the enthusiasm. There were lots of smiles and excitement from both our kiddos and staff. We are looking forward to learning and growing as a Patrick Airlie School community this year.

As we begin this new school year a few reminders from the main office.

Firstly, a reminder there is no school on Monday as it is a holiday. We will return to school on Tuesday, September 5 at 8:20am.

A reminder that entry doors are as follows:

  • Playground Doors (back of school) – Kindergarten, grade 1 and 4
  • Parking Lot Doors (south entrance) – grade 2, 3 and 5

Pickup locations will be:

  • Parking Lot Doors (south entrance) – grade 2, 3 and 5
  • Front Gate (to the left of the front door) – grade 1 and 4
  • Front Doors – Kindergarten

*Families, we ask that at pickup you DO NOT come on the field, compound and playground. It is very hectic trying to maintain student safety and ensure everyone is able to easily meet their adult. Please talk to the supervisor at the fence (look for the person wearing a blue safety vest) and they will radio for teachers to send your child over to meet you.

Parents and guardians are asked to complete annual forms through their MyCBE account. When you log in, scroll and choose School Engage. You will then be given a list of forms that MUST be completed as soon as possible.

The only forms that we require done on paper are:

Student Health Forms – completed only for students who have a significant medical condition or require prescription medication kept on site for emergencies. Please contact the main office for support with this process.

Pick-up Permission Form – if there are others who have permission to pick up your child after school, we must have this information on file in the office. This includes older siblings.  Teachers sent this form home with students this week, however if you a need a copy, it can be obtained from the office.

Backpacks and school supplies which students received were supplied by the ISSP Program. We are so thankful for their continued support and generosity. Along with these supplies they have provided a $50 Walmart gift card and a $10 Subway gift card for each student. To pick up these cards we would ask parents/guardians come by the main office on Wednesday, September 6 and Thursday, September 7 between 9:30-11am and 1:30-2:30pm. They must be picked up by legal parent/guardian who is responsible for signing for the cards, at the specified times.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school. We appreciate your support and are looking forward to a fantastic year!

All the best,

Mary-Elizabeth Kaiser

Principal
