Music

Music: Grades 5 and 6
Students receive music every other day for half of a semester (a total of two semesters) at RT Alderman. The focus of the class is musical literacy - learning how to read notes and rhythms and applying that knowledge to a variety of instruments. Students have the opportunity to play marimbas, recorder, boomwhackers, ukuleles and handbells.

Band: Grades 7-9
Students take band 2 to 3 times per week with the focus around musicianship and ensemble playing. In some years, RTA students have had the opportunity to perform at the Alberta International Band Festival and the Winter and Spring Concert. Band students also participate in a two night camp where they receive clinics on their instruments and extended rehearsal time.  - K. Gray, D.M.A.; Music Director, RT Alderman School
