Pick Up of Students at the End of the Day
It is important for all parents to inform the school of any change in plans for their child at the end of the school day especially if they are bus riders. We often end up holding a school bus while we look for a child who is a bus rider only to find out that they have been picked up by a parent on that day. This results in all the students on that bus being delayed. We would also appreciate it if parents would make calls to the office about changes to the end of the day routine before 3:15 p.m. so we have ample time to notify your child.
Hug & Go
This year we will have staff members available just past the chained off entrance to the school grounds past the crosswalk. We will open the rear car door and help students get to the sidewalk and onto the school grounds. This area will be marked off with large traffic cones.
Hug & Go will operate before school from 8:55 to 9:10. If you are planning on using this service, we cannot be responsible for items that your children leave behind, so please be sure that your children have all of their belongings with them in the back seat.
Parent feedback for this program has been extremely positive. Please be sure to pull up as far as possible in the Hug and Go lane so several families can access the service without blocking traffic. We also ask that you exit the lane as soon as it is safe to do so in order to keep the lane moving.
Parking
All parking spaces are assigned to Ranchlands staff members. Please do not park in the staff parking lot. Parking is available for parents and visitors in the Community Centre parking lot and on the street north and south of the
school beyond clearly posted “No Stopping or No Parking” signs. For the safety of the children, there is no stopping in this zone. This allows clear visibility for the crosswalk and our student safety patrol.
- Students should never be in the staff parking area. This includes walking through the parking lot to get to school.
- Remember, the front of the school is a designated school bus zone.
- Inappropriate parking practices may result in ticketing by the City Traffic Bylaw Service or City of Calgary Police.
- Parking on the opposite side of the street from the school and jay-walking with your children is very unsafe as well as illegal. Please plan to use Hug & Go so that students can cross at marked crosswalks and abide by our School Safety Patrols.
Safety Patrols
We are fortunate to have teachers and students who invest their time and energy into maintaining a strong, well-disciplined school safety patrol. View our Patroller hours.
