Dear Robert Thirsk Families,
I would like to take a moment to express my thanks to the Robert Thirsk learning community for their generous welcome, and to extend an invite to continue to work alongside as we support the success of your children in life and learning. As I step into my third week as the principal of Robert Thirsk, it is evident that staff, students and families work together to create a space where learning is personalized, opportunities for connections are carefully considered, and thriving as learners and teachers is the goal we all strive for.
I have had the privilege of working alongside many and varied learning communities within the Calgary Board of Education, and have spent a significant number of those years working alongside senior high schools considering how we design, or redesign our high school structures and processes to respond to the learning needs of young people today. This is exciting work, and we all thrive when this work is cared for together.
It has been wonderful to meet many families during conferences this past week and while cheering on our comets throughout basketball playoffs this weekend. It is an honor and privilege to lead such a vibrant, thoughtful learning community. I look forward to serving this amazing school community as we continue to reach for the stars.
Take good care,
Mandy Hambidge
