UPDATE: (as of Thursday, August 31st 7:30am) – Due to the Alberta Air Quality Index, this morning we will invite families into the school gym to meet their teachers (not outside)
7:45 am – 8:00am.
We are thrilled to be starting another school year and to welcome students to (or back to) Roland Michener School for the 2023-24 school year! The teachers and staff have been working hard to prepare for another year of learning, exploring and growing. As the new principal, it has been my privilege to get to know the staff and their incredible hearts for our students and school community. Truly, your children are in excellent hands at Roland Michener School with staff who care deeply about student learning and well-being.
I am excited to start a new year and I look forward to getting to know you and your children as we work together this year. Please feel free to email or call me with any questions or comments and please watch for opportunities to connect later on in September and throughout the school year.
Please see below for information on first day details, school and office hours, and other pertinent information to get the year started.
Sincerely,
Terrie Lay, Principal
First Day Details – Thursday, August 31st
Teachers and staff will be out on the field by 7:45am to meet and welcome their new students. If you or your child is unsure of who their teacher is, we will have staff outside (in safety vests) with class lists to direct you to your child's teacher.
Please be sure to inform the teacher if your child(ren) has any potentially life-threatening medical conditions (anaphylactic allergies; diabetes, uncontrolled asthma, etc.) that we need to know about to help keep your child safe. We also ask that you come to the office before leaving so that we can collect any needed information about your child's condition. Later, we will ask parents to share information about other (possibly less serious) medical conditions and complete Student Health Plans and/or Student Emergency Health Plans for those students who need them.
