Dear Parents,
Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year and a special welcome to those families that are new to our incredible school community. We hope that the summer was good to you and that you had the opportunity to rest, relax and spend time with your loved ones building memories. I know many parents/students are eagerly waiting to see their friends and to meet their new teacher and embark upon another year of learning. We cannot wait to see your kids again on Thursday, August 31!
Each school year is new and exciting as we establish new teams that work thoughtfully to create warm, welcoming and inspiring learning communities within our school. At Royal Oak School, we will continue to design engaging tasks that are directed towards supporting students' level of positive well-being and inspires them to take risks in their learning and be the best person they can be.
At the time of writing this, we have had many new registrations since spring staffing and are working on completing class lists as quickly as we can. On Tuesday afternoon (August 29), teachers will be sending a school messenger message to welcome your child to their new classroom. This message will contain information regarding procedures for the first day of school, what to bring and any other relevant information that you might need.
If you are driving to drop your child off at school, please be on the look out for students as they are often distracted by all the excitement going on. We would ask that you do not park in the parking lot and remember to be considerate of our neighbours.
Yellow school bus riders (registration done every school year) – if your child will be taking the yellow school bus (fee for service) and you have not registered yet, please ensure you do this right away as you cannot ride the bus until you are registered and the paper work is processed. Please register through your My CBE Account (see button on the following link) -https://www.cbe.ab.ca/Pages/default.aspx. For more information about transportation, please see https://cbe.ab.ca/schools/busing-and-transportation/Pages/default.aspx.
If you have registered for the yellow school bus, please ensure your child knows which bus they are on and where their home drop off spot will be. As far as we know thus far, we will only have either A or B bus again this year.
First Day of School, Thursday, August 31- Staff will be outside at 8:50 on Thursday morning (August 31) with name identification so you can locate your child's teacher.
We look forward to a wonderful 2023-2024 school year.
Sincerely,
Gord Hamby and Kim Dawson
Principal and Assistant Principal - Royal Oak School
