Attendance

Attendance Line: 403-777-6279 ext. 1

Please report all lates, absences and early pick-ups in a timely manner, using the number above.

If a student, does not arrive at school and we have not received a telephone call, we will attempt to contact parents. We wish to ensure that your child is safe at all times so it is critical that parents contact the school in the case of a student absence. We ask parents to state the child’s name, teacher and the reason for their absence each day the child is away.

Punctuality, Absences and Responsibilities

As outlined in the Alberta School Act, the responsibility for regular and punctual attendance, which is necessary for satisfactory school progress, lies with the student and parents. Attendance is taken daily. If your child is late or going to be absent, it is your responsibility to notify the school. We must verify all absences, so the office will call or email you if your child is not in class. If your child arrives at school after 9:10 AM or 1:00 PM, s/he must sign in at the office and receive a late entry slip.

Students, who have an appointment or have to leave before regular dismissal time, must sign out at the office. Permission to be excused from school can only be granted by the office upon request by a parent or guardian.

Attendance and Frequent Late Arrival Improvement Plans will be initiated with families who have unexcused absences or lates which is determined by the school administration. Please feel free to request a meeting should you require support to address this critical issue for students.

Communication with Your Child(ren)

The use of cell phones for communication with parents/guardians by students is a common and acceptable practice. However, all communication between students and parents during the day needs to be through the classroom or office phones with teacher permission. This is important as the school is entrusted with caring for all students during the school day and needs to track all information between home and school.

Cell phones are to be turned off and left in backpacks until school is dismissed. Please contact the school office if you need to get a message to your child.
