Drop-Off and Pick-Up
When driving or walking students to school, parents are urged to remind their children to enter via their designated doors. The same procedure exists for pick up at dismissal times. Parents or siblings meeting our students at dismissal times are asked to wait outside of the school near the appropriate designated door.
During regular weather days, we ask that parents consider having their students walk, bike, scooter, or skateboard to school. If parents are biking to school with their child, be aware that adults are also expected to follow our school rules of “walking the wheels” while on school property. This sets the right example for our students who know and follow this expectation.
Review our Personal Belongings page for more information on bicycles, scooters, and skateboards.
Parking Lot is Off Limits
All parking spots in our parking lot are reserved and have been assigned to staff. Staff arrive at different times depending on their roles, so an empty stall does not mean that it is free for use. Visitors and parents are not permitted to use the parking lot to park, drop off or pick up their children. It is not safe for children in our parking lot. Students can be dropped off on the east side of the school off Bonaventure Drive.
Parking in the Alley & Idling
Our Lake Bonavista neighbors continue to work collaboratively with us regarding traffic issues to ensure our students are safe and that their homes and community are respected. Many of our parents park in the alleys that border our school.
Please don't block the alley and driveways or park on private property.
For more information see to the Calgary Parking Authority website Section 27 (1) In alley - within 1.5 m and Section 28 (1) Unauthorized on Private Property.
Idling
- Idling for longer than 10 seconds uses more fuel than turning your engine off and restarting it again.
- Idling is not an effective means of warming up your vehicle in the winter.
Traffic Safety
Please review our Traffic Safety Tips and help protect our kids by making this commitment to traffic safety at our school.
When driving or walking children to and from school:
- We will choose safety over convenience.
- We will obey all traffic signs and laws.
- We will always use crosswalks.
- Even when late, we will model good behavior and not take unsafe shortcuts, make u-turns or let children out in bus zones.

Playground Supervision
Supervision begins 10 minutes before school starts. Please pick up your children promptly after school.
Crosswalk Safety
Our partners at the City of Calgary have been busy this summer improving the intersection and crosswalk at Lake Rosen Crescent and Lake Bonavista Drive SE to make it safer for pedestrians and less appealing for those wanting to u-turn in this area. Please review the pictures attached. Crosswalk line painting is still to come.
The added bump outs shorten the road walking distance for pedestrians while protecting the crosswalk from drivers who like to park too closely. Yeah!
